Debinding Books
I found this video tutorial about how to debind books. The guy uses a hairdryer, which I think is a LOT safer than an iron or the microwave. I’ve heard stories of books catching on fire in the microwave.
Anyway, I tried this method on an old paperback, and it worked like a charm.

The blowdryer should be good if you have the right nozzle, which I don’t. The iron method has worked for me with little hassle and the little damage I made to the pages was because of silly carelessness =(
I don’t have any special nozzle, I just hold it right against the binding and give it time to melt the glue. I also aim it at the inside of the binding where the pages meet the cover.
